Rumbleville 2011
If you had asked me a week ago what Rockabilly music was, you would have met with a blank stare. Now I think I have the answer. This past Saturday I attended a motorcycle/car show and Rockabilly music festival at “The Maching Shop” in Flint, Michigan. What I discovered there is this. Rockabilly is any form of music that includes an upright bass. I bet that many of the artists will howl that this is not so, but I have collected an astounding amount of empirical evidence to support my theory. Lol
I listened to over half a dozen different bands and they ranged from almost country to almost blues to almost rock and roll to heavy metal to what was that? I assure you that if you like music of any kind you will find a Rockabilly group that fits you perfectly. Every one of the bands was entertaining. Every one of the bands was talented. Every one of the bands put on a great show. Every one of the bands was different in it’s style and execution. The only thing that every act had in common was a guy playing an upright bass instead of an electric.
Some of you are still going to say “Narf, that’s crazy talk” so I have decided to share this delightful show with you. The artists were gracious enough to let me tape their sets and I have linked them here so you can judge for yourselves. Just click on the pictures to be whisked away to some live recordings. I would like to apologize in advance for some of the sound quality. I was standing a little closer to the speakers than I like to and even though I dialed back the mic pickup on my camera some of the sound came in pretty hot.
Without further ado, Rumbleville 2011.

The music wasn't the only attraction. There was also a "Pin-Up" contest and Burlesque by the lovely Miss Pussykatt.
